    Mayor Carlos Alvarez Tours MIA's North TerminalMiami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Alvarez tours Miami International Airport's North Terminal via the Concourse D SkyTrain.  The SkyTrain is an automated people mover with four stations, which will open in the fall of 2010 and transport 9,000 passengers per hour.

    Mayor Carlos Alvarez participates in Rental Car Center Grand Opening

    Gus Pego, Secretary, Florida Department of Transportation, District 6; Honorable Carlos Alvarez, Mayor, Miami-Dade County; Honorable José "Pepe" Diaz, Vice Chairman, Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners; George M. Burgess, County Manager, Miami-Dade County; Jay Fraser, Vice President, Turner Construction; Honorable Dorrin D. Rolle, Miami-Dade County Commissioner, District 2 and Chairman of Airport and Seaport Committee; and Steve Haas, Chair, Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau.The Rental Car Center, which is located at 3900 NW 25th Street, opened to the public on July 12th. The 3.4 million square foot facility provides a safe and easy way to rent vehicles and can accommodate 6,500 rental vehicles. It is the first major component of the Miami Intermodal Center.

    Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Alvarez helped Zoo Miami, formerly known as Miami Metro Zoo, celebrate its 30th birthday in a ceremony unveiling a new logo and entrance for one of Miami-Dade County's longest standing jewels, on July  2, 2010.

    Mayor Carlos Alvarez hosted an Oil Spill Preparedness News Conference at the Miami-Dade County Emergency Operations Center.Mayor Carlos Alvarez hosted an Oil Spill Preparedness News Conference at the Miami-Dade County Emergency Operations Center. Representatives from more than 10 local, state and federal governmental agencies were on hand to discuss plans in the event the Gulf Coast oil spill reaches South Florida. At this time, the oil spill poses no imminent threat to South Florida.
