Fees

Licenses
Every person owning, keeping, or harboring any dog over 4 months of age in Miami-Dade County, or bringing any dog over 4 months of age into Miami-Dade County, needs to register the dog with the Animal Services Department within 30 days of the dog entering the County, and obtain a license tag (dog tag), which the dog shall wear at all times. (Cats are not required to be licensed.)

Rabies Vaccinations
Rabies vaccinations and licenses may be obtained from a veterinarian or at the Miami-Dade Animal Services shelter.

Dog Adoption (over 4 months of age) $65  
Puppy Adoption $75  
 
Cat/Kitten adoption (1 or 2) $35  
 
Impound and Redemptions
Dog owner will be charged both the redemption fee and the boarding fees. Unless proof is provided at the time of redemption, owners will have to pay to vaccinate a dog or cat ($10.00) and purchase a license tag for their dog. The tag for a spayed/neutered dog is $25.00. If the dog has not been spayed or neutered, the cost is $50.00.
Redemption (sterilized dog) $50 plus $10 boarding per day
Subsequent redemption within 12 months $75 plus $10 boarding per day
 
Redemption (unsterilized dog) $100 plus $10 boarding per day
Subsequent redemption within 12 months $125 plus $10 boarding per day
 
Redemption (sterilized cat) $30 plus $5 boarding per day
Subsequent redemption within 12 months $60 plus $5 boarding per day
 
Redemption (unsterilized cat) $50 plus $5 boarding per day
Subsequent redemption within 12 months $85 plus $5 boarding per day
 
Euthanasia (disposal included) $25  
 
Spay/Neuter Release Agreement $50 refundable deposit
 
Dog sterilization co-pay (Tuesday) $25
Cat sterilization co-pay (Thursdays) $15  
 
Cat trap rental (10 days max) $50 refundable deposits
 
Registrations:    
Dangerous Dog Annual Registration Fee $125
Dangerous Dog Life Registration (non-transferrable) $500  
Hobby Breeder (annual fee) $25

*NOTE: Low Income Owner is a person receiving public assistance under one or more of the following programs:

  • Food Stamps: Must provide current eligibility letter; card is not accepted.
  • Medicaid: Must provide current eligibility letter; card is not accepted.
  • Supplemental Security Income (SSI): Must provide current eligibility letter. 
  • Temporary Assistance for Needed Families (TANF): Must provide current eligibility letter.
