The phone number for scheduling and information is 305-696-0800, the main line of the Humane Society of Greater Miami. Hours of operation are: Tuesday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with surgery drop offs from 8 a.m. to 9 a. m. Spay/neuter services are by appointment only.

Dogs - Spay and Neuter

Animal Services offers donor-subsidized ($30 owner co-pay) spay/neuter services for dogs under 50 lbs, every Tuesday and Wednesday, on the Mobile Unit stationed at the Animal Services shelter located at 7401 NW 74th Street. Proof of current rabies vaccination for dogs over 4 months of age is required. Rabies vaccine can be obtained the day of surgery for $10 (or $3 if qualified low-income). Up to 4 dogs per household; 3 months and older. No food or water after 12 midnight the night before. Dog cannot be in heat cycle for this surgery.

Veterinarian may decline surgery due to health reasons. Microchip implant and registration services can be obtained for $10 and License Tags for $27. No appointment necessary. Surgeries are performed on a first come, first serve basis. Numbers are given out starting at 6 a.m. on the day of the surgery to those who are in line. Pet owners are encouraged to arrive before 6 a.m. as only a limited number of surgeries are performed.

Cats - Spay and Neuter

Animal Services will offer donor-subsidized spay/neuter services for cats, every Thursday and Friday at the shelter located at 7401 NW 74th Street. This service is $15 and is available to Miami-Dade residents only. This program is made possible by donations to the Animal Services Trust Fund.

The Cat Network also provides low-cost spay-neuter services through its convenient "Miami Meow Mobile" Spay and Neuter Van, which makes monthly visits to a neighborhood near you.
