Movers
All movers providing local moves within Miami-Dade County, or between Miami-Dade, Broward or Palm Beach counties, must be registered with the Consumer Services Department (CSD).
Unless the move is to take place in less than 72 hours after the prospective client contacts the mover, there must be a written estimate. The mover must also provide each client with a copy of the Tri-County Moving Consumer Bill of Rights and Disclosure Statement. ![]()
Written contracts, which must have the final costs, are required for all moves. Final charges cannot exceed the estimate by more than 10%.
Movers must provide, at minimum, insurance coverage of 60 cents per pound of article. Consumers have 60 days to file a claim with the mover.
Intrastate and interstate moves are not regulated. View a summary of the CSD Moving Ordinance.
Note*: To download and fill out a permit and/or license application, visit the permits page and view a listing of permits and licenses separated by division.
