Pain Management Clinics

Starting October 1, 2011, the Sustainability, Planning and Economic Enhancement Department (SPEED) will launch the county's pain clinic registration program.

On August 2, 2011, the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioner's approved an ordinance mandating the registration of Pain Clinics and Pain Management Clinics as defined by Florida Statutes.  Since that time SPEED has been developing a database and registration procedures to ensure a smooth implementation.  Additionally, a Pain Clinic Task Force has been convened to study several issues surrounding the program.

The ordinance as approved contains a temporary moratorium on the issuance of registrations to any Pain Clinic located within Miami-Dade County that was not fully registered with the Florida Department of Health as of August 12, 2011.  This temporary moratorium will expire on February 8, 2012.

The registration process will require proof of various federal, state, and local licenses for the clinic and all physicians working with the clinic; designation of a responsible licensed physician; ownership information; listing of all employees; ownership interests in other clinics or pharmacies; all physicians that own or are associated with the clinic will require a criminal background check and have to complete a registration affidavit; and various other information.

The Pain Clinic initial application fee (one time only) is one hundred and twenty dollars ($120.00). Upon approval of your registration, SPEED will determine your annual registration period based on the month/day of your businesses initial registration with the State of Florida Department of Corporations.  The annual registration fee of one thousand and two hundred dollars ($1,200.00) will be prorated based on that determination.
