Mangrove Trimming

Mangroves act as buffers from hurricanes and help prevent beach and soil erosion. They are also breeding and nursery grounds for marine organisms, including shrimp, crab and fish species. Trimming mangroves can have an adverse impact on the health of the surrounding ecosystem. Therefore, most mangrove trimming or alteration projects within Miami-Dade County require a Class I Permit.
