Pollution Cleanup - Steps in a Remediation Project

Some of the possible steps in a remediation project include:

  • Site Assessment
Determination of the extent of contamination.
  • Active Remediation
The site is being cleaned through deliberate activities.
  • Natural Attenuation
The site is being "cleaned" through the natural processes that are constantly working within our environment.
  • No Further Action
The site has been restored to acceptable levels.

Depending on the extent of the contamination, the scale of certain steps in the project may vary, and in some instances certain steps may be omitted.

There are specific rules and permits that may apply to these projects.
