Wetlands Advisory Task Force meeting - 19 Mar 2012
This past July, the Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners adopted Resolution R-561-11
, which established the Wetlands Advisory Task Force (WATF). The WATF is established for a term of six months and is required to hold a minimum of five meetings.
The next WATF meeting takes place at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 18.
Water Shortage Orders lifted - 16 Nov 2011
Due to several significant rainfall events over the last few months, the South Florida Water Management District has lifted the emergency water shortage orders issued in March. Although groundwater levels have recovered, the 2011-12 dry season calls for predictions of below-average rainfall. Residents are encouraged to continue conserving water indoors and outdoors. As a reminder, Miami-Dade County's permanent two-day a week landscape irrigation restrictions remain in effect.
Board seeking new volunteer member - 08 Nov 2011
Miami-Dade County is currently seeking interested candidates with a Ph.D. in Biology to be considered for appointment by the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners (BCC) to the Environmental Quality Control Board (EQCB). Request to transfer active Class II, III, V, and VI permits - 08 Sep 2011
A person requiring to transfer a Class II, III, V and VI permit when a property is sold to another person or entity needs to submit an application prior to 120 days after the date of transfer of ownership, or 90 days before the permit expires, whichever comes first. Permits are voided if no transfer is completed within the 120 days of the date of change in ownership or 90 days of permit expiration. Please use the Permit Transfer Form

Attention electric vehicle drivers - 03 Aug 2011
Electric vehicle charging spaces are available free of cost at the Overtown Transit Village (OTV) public parking garage. These charging stations are located on the third floor (north side) of the OTV garage at 701 NW 1st Court. There is a nominal fee for all visitors parking in the garage, but there is no cost to charge your vehicle. To learn more about this service, call 786-469-2052.
Stricter water restrictions in effect - 20 Jun 2011
With regional ground and surface water levels declining, and no significant rainfall expected in the coming weeks, the South Florida Water Management District has issued a Water Shortage Order
that went into effect March 26. For Miami-Dade County, the order requires a 15 percent reduction in water usage by golf courses, along with restricting the hours of water use in South Miami-Dade County agricultural operations. Miami-Dade County's permanent two-day a week landscape irrigation restrictions remain in effect. Residents and businesses are encouraged to voluntarily reduce indoor water usage.

Gumbo limbo whitefly affecting local trees - 02 Nov 2010
The gumbo limbo spiraling whitefly has infested a wide range of landscape plants in Miami-Dade County. This species also produces sooty mold and honeydew that covers cars, pool decks and patio furniture from infested trees overhead. However, it doesn't mean that trees have to be removed in order to fight the infestation.
