Purchasing Month

March is Purchasing Month! Governor Charlie Crist proclaimed March 2008 as Purchasing Month in Florida. He signed the proclamation on Feb. 14, 2008, recognizing the work of purchasing professionals in government, business and industry across Florida.

The National Institute of Governmental Purchasing (NIGP) began Purchasing Month 20 years ago to recognize the significant role purchasing and materials management professions play in both government and business.
During the month of March, professional purchasing associations throughout the world engage in special efforts to inform the public about the importance of the role played by the purchasing profession in business, industry and government.
