Purchasing Professional of the Year

Km! Ra, a Senior Procurement Contracting Agent in the Department of Procurement Management, was selected "Purchasing Professional of the Year".  The award recognized excellence in customer service, integrity and a steadfast commitment to full and open competition.  Staff was invited to nominate candidates based on these three principles. A committee reviewed nine nominations and unanimously selected Km! Ra as the 2009 award winner. A cash award of $500 and eight hours administrative leave were presented to the awardee.

Km! Ra was nominated by his colleagues because he exemplifies all the good qualities of a procurement professional. Km! Ra is assigned some of the most complex and high profile contracts. He uses his expertise and analytical ability to bring the greatest value to Miami-Dade County.  An expert in fuel commodities, he is respected throughout the County for his knowledge and unique understanding of the industry and market conditions that affect fuel prices.

Km! Ra demonstrates excellent customer service and carries out his responsibilities with the utmost integrity and professionalism.  His commitment to the procurement profession is demonstrated through his numerous certifications; Certified Public Procurement Buyer, Certified Public Procurement Officer and Certified Procurement Manager.  He has dedicated personal time to coach co-workers in studying for certification exams and developing skills.

Staff describes him as someone who is always willing to offer a helping hand, a team player, extremely knowledgeable, diligent, meticulous, accurate, well rounded, and a seasoned professional.  Km! Ra is a valuable member of the Department of Procurement Management Team.
