TITLE
RESOLUTION CO-DESIGNATING THAT PORTION OF SW 168 STREET FROM SW 90 AVENUE TO SW 87 AVENUE, AS “PANTHER PARKWAY”

BODY
WHEREAS, Perrine Elementary Expressive Arts School is located within the Village of Palmetto Bay, Florida, and is an A+ rated school recently recognized as a “Magnet School of Distinction” by the national organization of Magnet Schools of America (one of only 70 schools nationwide to be so recognized); and
WHEREAS, Perrine Elementary Expressive Arts School continues to strive under the outstanding direction, commitment, and dedication of its principal Maileen Ferrer, teachers and staff, and not to mention the hard work of its student body; and
WHEREAS, Perrine Elementary Expressive Arts School deserves recognition and thanks for its dedication to maintaining the high quality standards of education in Miami-Dade County and responding to the growing needs of the community; and
WHEREAS, the Village of Palmetto Bay has passed Resolution No. 2010-17, a copy of which is attached and incorporated by reference, urging Miami-Dade County to co-designate the portion of SW 168 Street that fronts the school, between 87 Avenue and 90 Avenue, within the boundaries of the Village of Palmetto Bay, as “Panther Pathway;” and
WHEREAS, in recognition of the outstanding achievements of Perrine Elementary Expressive Arts School, Miami-Dade County would like to honor the school by co-designating the aforementioned street “Panther Pathway;” and
WHEREAS, this proposed co-designation is a county road located in the Village of Palmetto Bay in County Commission District 8,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FLORIDA, that this Board:
Section 1. Having conducted a public hearing, co-designates that portion of SW 168 Street from 87 Avenue to 90 Avenue, within the boundaries of the Village of Palmetto Bay, as “Panther Parkway.”
Section 2. The Clerk of the Board is directed to send certified copies of this Resolution to the Mayor and Village Council of the Village of Palmetto Bay, the United States Postal Service, the Traffic Signals and Signs Division of the Public Works Department and Land Development Division of the Public Works Department, the Miami-Dade Police Department, and the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Department.
