Information for Providers

The Moderate Rehabilitation Single Room Occupancy Program provides rental assistance to building or structure owners of rehabilitated units on behalf of very low and low-income single, homeless individuals. See the income limits table for details.

Under this program, owners rent the rehabilitated units to homeless individuals, who are required to pay no more than 30% of their annual adjusted income as rent. When structure rehabilitation is complete, the owner enters into a 10-year contract with Miami-Dade Public Housing and Community Development.

Structures may be of any type – with or without kitchen and sanitary facilities in each unit, depending on the requirements of the local code. The maximum number of Moderate Rehabilitation Single Rooms allowed in any building is 100. If existing tenants are living in the building prior to structure rehabilitation, the owner is responsible for their relocation and all associated costs. The cost of the rehabilitation is included in the rents.
