Fiscal Year 2015-16 Budget Address

Fellow Residents,

It is time to start planning the Miami-Dade County's operating and capital budgets for Fiscal Year 2015-16. I am very optimistic about our budget development this year.

If current projections hold true, it is likely that Miami-Dade County will not need to reduce services or eliminate essential positions. It is very early in the process and much work needs to be done, but I look forward to proposing a budget that keeps tax rates flat and includes investment in financial reserves as well as critical services.

During the Sixth Annual Southeast Florida Climate Leadership Summit , Mayor Gimenez shared his perspectives on how climate change is influencing the County’s thinking on urban, regional, transportation and economic planning, since rising sea levels are linked to rising insurance rates and other costs.
