Training: General Information

The Training Division of the Miami-Dade Medical Examiner Department offers a variety of training programs throughout the year to enhance and further the knowledge and skills of the participants in the performance of their duties.  Our seminar workshops are specifically designed to meet the needs of the law enforcement, prosecution/state attorneys, military, and other crime scene or criminal investigative communities.  Additionally, enrollees come from the forensic medical, coroner/medical examiner, biomedical photographers, forensic nursing, and other medically related fields.  Our programs are also available to the private sector of forensic insurance investigators and risk managers.

Superintendence of the Medical Examiner Department's forensic workshops is provided by the Miami-Dade Police Department's Training Bureau. Sgt. Nelson Rodriguez is the contact representative for those who desire additional information (see menu on this page). He or a member of his staff will assist workshop registrants and participants.

The Medical Examiner Department also conducts a one-year, ACGME-accredited training program in Forensic Pathology.
