Chartering Your Career Course
Miami-Dade County Teen Court has parntered with South Florida Workforce to bring you:
Charting Your Career Course, a journey through comprehensive workshops aimed at fostering employability skills. Thursday, August 11th, 2011 at the Miami Dade College North Campus - Science Building.
Teen Court Program Hosts Courtroom Training for Youth Attorneys
Miami-Dade County Teen Court Program (M-DCTC), under the administrative leadership of Miami-Dade Economic Advocacy Trust (MDEAT), will train a new wave of lawyers, bailiffs, clerks, and jurors during the annual summer Youth Attorney Training Program.
Training sessions are scheduled for August 2nd - 4th from 8:00 AM - 1:30 PM at St. Thomas University Law School, 16401 NW 37 Avenue, Moot Courtroom.
About 200 middle and high school students will receive training for courtroom trials sanctioned by the program's volunteer training guidelines.
These sessions educate and train youth volunteers in the many facets of the judicial process. In addition, this training increases the pool of volunteers who help operate Teen Court year-round and provides valuable information for those interested in pursuing careers in law and/or criminal justice.
Legal experts will mentor youth attorneys, jurors, and court officers in the areas of law terminology and courtroom decorum. These tools will sharpen trainees' skills, and prepare them for their first culminating courtroom mock trial presentations. Participants will also receive 24 hours of community service credit for attending the classroom training sessions.
