    Learn and Understand Weather Patterns

    Miami-Dade Emergency Management and the National Weather Service is hosting a free SKYWARN class.  Join the ranks of servere weather spotters that assist the National Weather Service in providing better watches and warnings.  See the attached flyer for more information.

    Giant African Land Snails in South Florida

    Over 19,000 Giant African land snails, one of the most damaging snails in the world, have been collected in Miami-Dade.  They consume at least 500 different types of plants, can cause structural damage to plaster and can pose a serious health risk to humans.

    Storm Surge Simulator

    Storm Surge imageMore than a half a million people are within one of Miami-Dade County's three Hurricane Evacuation Zones, Miami-Dade County, in partnership with Florida International University has created the Storm Surge Simulator which combines historical data and modern day technology to illustrate what storm surge could mean to you and your home.
