Learn safe practices in and around the water, May 14
May is National Water Safety Month. Learn how to protect your child from drowning at the 8th Annual Summer Safety Splash event, 10 a.m.-1 p.m., at Haulover Beach Park Lifeguard Headquarters Building. This event is open to the public and will provide parents and children with resources on swimming lessons, water and child safety and more.

Study links neighborhood greenness to reduction in chronic diseases among Miami-Dade seniors
A new study of Miami-Dade County Medicare beneficiaries showed that higher levels of greenness on their neighborhood block were linked to a significant reduction in the rate of chronic illnesses and health conditions like diabetes, hypertension and high cholesterol, particularly in low-to-middle income neighborhoods.
