Nominate your favorite community park!
This month Miami-Dade Parks is part of the Parks Build Community program in collaboration with The National Recreation and Park Association, Disney, ABC, and ESPN to revitalize parks across the US including a park right here in Miami-Dade. One of Three of our local Parks will receive a $20,000 grant and you get to choose which one!
Park Projects you can vote for are:
- Butterfly Garden Improvements at Gratigny Plateau Park
- Community Garden Planting at Goulds Park
- Soccer Field Enhancements at Oak Grove Park
Voting is open to anyone and is open from April 1 - April 30. You can vote everyday once a day. In addition, you can choose a wild card to nominate any one park you would like to see receive an additional $20,000.

Join in on the fun with friends and family on Saturday, April 18 from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. at Tropical Park, Some activities include: wildlife Viewing, boating, EcoAdventures, sport shooting education, music more!

Park's adaptive sports program for disabled vets
Miami-Dade County’s Disability Services Division was granted nearly $23,000 from the U.S. Department of Veteran’s Affairs to expand and aid its COVERT program (Connecting the Outdoors with Veterans through Education, Recreation and Training). Trap Shooting is available at Trail Glades Shooting Range, 10 a.m. - noon, Wednesdays through Friday and Hand Cycling is available at Tropical Park, 10 a.m. - noon on Tuesdays through April 28.

Heads Up: Concussion in youth sports
To help ensure the health and safety of young athletes, CDC developed the Heads Up: Concussion in Youth Sports initiative to offer information about concussions to coaches, parents, and athletes involved in youth sports.
The Heads Up initiative provides important information on preventing, recognizing, and responding to a concussion. It's Better to Miss One Game Than the Whole Season!
Walkability in Miami-Dade County
The video focuses showing effects of health on creating a walkable neighborhood. It touches on the dangers of our city becoming car-centric.
