Miami Watersports Complex opening at Amelia Earhart Park

The new Miami Watersports Complex at Amelia Earhart Park offers cable wakeboarding, boat wakeboarding behind the award winning Super Air Nautique G23 wake sport boat, wake-surfing, waterskiing, kneeboarding, and paddle boarding. Make sure to check it out!

Tropical Park goes medieval

The 8th Annual Miami International Agriculture, Horse & Cattle Show returns to the Ronald Reagan Equestrian Center at Tropical Park, April 10 - 12. See a cavalcade of livestock, enjoy a farm experience and petting zoo, Car Show, Food Trucks and more! Admission is $3, kids ages 12 and under are free.

Nominate your favorite community park!

TVote your favorite parkhis month Miami-Dade Parks is part of the Parks Build Community program in collaboration with The National Recreation and Park Association, Disney, ABC, and ESPN to revitalize parks across the US including a park right here in Miami-Dade. One of Three of our local Parks will receive a $20,000 grant and you get to choose which one!

Park Projects you can vote for are:

  1. Butterfly Garden Improvements at Gratigny Plateau Park
  2. Community Garden Planting at Goulds Park
  3. Soccer Field Enhancements at Oak Grove Park

Voting is open to anyone and is open from April 1 - April 30. You can vote everyday once a day. In addition, you can choose a wild card to nominate any one park you would like to see receive an additional $20,000.

Park's adaptive sports program for disabled vets

Miami-Dade County’s Disability Services Division was granted nearly $23,000 from the U.S. Department of Veteran’s Affairs to expand and aid its COVERT program (Connecting the Outdoors with Veterans through Education, Recreation and Training). Trap Shooting is available at Trail Glades Shooting Range, 10 a.m. - noon, Wednesdays through Friday and Hand Cycling is available at Tropical Park, 10 a.m. - noon on Tuesdays through April 28.

Heads Up: Concussion in youth sports

To help ensure the health and safety of young athletes, CDC developed the Heads Up: Concussion in Youth Sports initiative to offer information about concussions to coaches, parents, and athletes involved in youth sports.

The Heads Up initiative provides important information on preventing, recognizing, and responding to a concussion. It's Better to Miss One Game Than the Whole Season!

 

 

Walkability in Miami-Dade County
