Summer Safety Splash: Miami-Dade County leaders team up with Miami Children's Hospital to promote Water Safety & Drowning Prevention as dangerous summer season begins

Activities and photo/film opportunities include:

  • Drowning rescue demonstrations
  • Swimming lessons
  • Interactive activities related to water safety
  • Supervised water fun for children of varying ages
  • Information on swimming lessons and summer safety
  • Statements from families who have experienced a near drowning
  • Statements on the importance of water safety from community leaders


 
Who: The event is supported by Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Alvarez; Miami-Dade County Commissioners Dennis Moss, Katy Sorenson and Rebeca Sosa; Miami-Dade County Schools Board Members Renier Diaz de la Portilla, Dr. Marta Perez and Dr. Lawrence Feldman; City of Pinecrest Mayor Cindy Lerner, and Safe Kids Miami Dade County.

What:Deaths increase 89 percent during the summer months. To help heighten awareness and support families in promoting water safety, Miami-Dade County Parks and Recreation, Miami-Dade County Public Schools, Miami Children’s Hospital, Miami Children’s Hospital Foundation and community leaders and safety organizations are joining forces to offer a “Summer Safety Splash” event.
