Clean Up & Green Up Poster/Video Contest
Miami-Dade County students from grades 1-12 are invited to participate in the "Clean Up & Green Up" poster contest. Students are encouraged to design a poster that explains what we can do to clean up our community. High school students can also participate in the Clean up & Green Up Video contest. The theme this year is “The best ways to Clean Up and Green Up our community." Videos will be accepted on a class basis as the grand prize will be awarded to the entire class. Poster and video entries must be submitted by Friday, Feb. 16.
Miami-Dade Parks featured on National Association of Realtors website
The National Association of Realtors recently published a blog article on the importance and the financial, health and communal benefits of having close access to parks and recreational open spaces near homes. Among those that were highlighted was Miami-Dade Parks and its Open Space Master Plan.
Miami-Dade Parks' Fit2Play™ program wins $25,000 FlaBev grant
The Florida Beverage Association (FlaBev) has announced the award of a $25,000 grant to the Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department's Fit2Play after-school program, an evidence-based childhood obesity prevention and healthy living initiative for Miami-Dade youth.

In the Company of Women announces 2016 honorees and awards ceremony
This March during Women’s History Month, celebrate women’s excellence by honoring 12 outstanding women leaders for their contributions to South Florida at the 28th Annual In the Company of Women Awards Ceremony, presented by Macy’s, March 3 at 6 p.m. Award winners are trailblazer in their professions and give time and talents to the community.
ESPN Highlights Laura Ortiz of Miami-Dade Parks
Laura Ortiz, a Miami-Dade Parks employee was featured on ESPN's article on veterans. Laura is a part of the Troops for Fitness initiative at Miami-Dade Parks and was one of eight women that share their life story as a veteran with ESPN. We congratulate Laura on a such a great feature and headline photo!
