Metromover Opening Late for Maintenance Work

Free bus shuttle service will be provided between Metromover stations

MIAMI (December 10, 2015)

In order to perform maintenance work, the entire Metromover system will close Saturday, Dec. 12, 2015, from 12 a.m. to 12 p.m. Service will be replaced by free shuttle buses to minimize impact to users during the closure.

On Saturday, Metromover will close at 12 a.m. The system will reopen on Saturday at 12 p.m. Free shuttle bus service will be provided between all Metromover stations from 5 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday. Buses are scheduled to arrive approximately every 10 to 15 minutes. A map of where shuttle buses will pick up and drop off patrons is available at MDT’s Metromover page . Metromover is expected to resume regular service at 12 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 12, 2015.

In addition, credit card processing at Ticket Vending Machines, and on the Transit Store, will be temporarily unavailable from Friday, at 10 p.m. to Saturday, at 12 p.m. Ticket Vending Machines will be accepting cash only during this time. However, customers can go to the nearest sales outlet to load their EASY Card. Before visiting, passengers are encouraged to call the sales outlets for business hours. Sales outlets are subject to change without notice.

Miami-Dade Transit apologizes for the inconvenience; however, in order to continue its accelerated effort to improve reliability on the Metromover system, Miami-Dade Transit sometimes conducts maintenance work that involves the temporary closing of the Metromover system and replaces trains with free shuttle buses. This allows MDT to complete its work safer and faster, while minimizing impact to users during peak-service hours.
