Miami-Dade Transit's Special Holiday Schedule

Christmas and New Year’s schedule for Metrobus, Metrorail and Metromover

MIAMI (December 18, 2015)

Miami-Dade Transit wishes all its customers a healthy and happy holiday season as it announces its holiday schedule for Metrobus, Metrorail and Metromover.

Thursday, Dec.  24, 2015

  • Metrobus, Metrorail and Metromover will operate on a regular schedule.
  • All 95 Express routes to Golden Glades and Broward County will be departing from Downtown Miami starting at 12 p.m., earlier than their regular scheduled times, in order to accommodate commuters leaving work early.

 

Friday, Dec. 25, 2015

  • Metrobus, Metrorail and Metromover will operate on a Sunday schedule.
  • This means that weekday-only routes, such as the I-95 Dade-Broward Express and the I-95 Express going to Golden Glades, will not be providing service on Dec. 25th.

Thursday, Dec. 31, 2015

Metrorail and Metromover service

  • Metrorail will operate on a regular weekday schedule with a 15-minute frequency between Dadeland South and Earlington Heights Metrorail stations; and every 30 minutes between Palmetto and Earlington Heights stations.
  • Metrorail and Metromover service will be extended until approximately 4 a.m. into Friday, New Year’s Day, Jan. 1, 2016.
  • Parking facilities at Metrorail stations will remain open through the following day, Friday, Jan. 1, 2016.

Metrobus service

  • All 95 Express routes to Golden Glades and Broward County will be departing from Downtown Miami starting at 12 p.m., earlier than their regular scheduled times, in order to accommodate commuters leaving work early.
  • Due to New Year's Eve festivities, starting at 9:45 p.m., Miami-Dade Transit will be adding bus service to the following routes to better serve passengers:
    o Additional bus service will be provided on Route S (Route 119) and the Beach MAX (Route 120), serving Miami Beach.
    o There will be more bus service added to Routes 3 and 16 in the area of Biscayne Boulevard; Route 11, along Flagler St., and Route 8, along Southwest 8th St.
  • There will also be additional bus service provided on routes serving downtown Miami, as well as Dadeland North and Dadeland South Stations.
  • Additional MDT Supervisors will be assigned to the following locations to assist passengers during the festivities.
     
    o Government Center Station
    o Downtown Metrobus Terminal
    o MDC Wolfson Campus
    o Omni Terminal
    o Dadeland North Station
    o Dadeland South Station

Friday, Jan. 1, 2016

  • Metrobus, Metrorail and Metromover will operate on a Sunday schedule.
  • This means that weekday only routes, such as the I-95 Dade-Broward Express and the I-95 Express going to Golden Glades, will not be providing service on Jan. 1, 2016.

To avoid long lines at Metrorail stations during New Year’s Eve, transit riders are encouraged to load early at least $4.50 (the cost of a round-trip) on an EASY Card or EASY Ticket at any EASY Card Ticket Vending Machine (TVM). Riders are reminded that a 1-Day Pass ($5.65) is good for one day of unlimited rides on Metrobus and Metrorail and that it expires at 2 a.m. the following day.
