The Department of Transportation and Public Works encourages you to be a Heart of Gold

The Department is supporting the forthcoming second annual Hearts of Gold Fashion Show benefiting the University of Miami Center for Autism Related Disabilities.

MIAMI (January 23, 2017)

The second annual Hearts of Gold Fashion Show will benefit the University of Miami Center for Autism Related Disabilities, as well as the Crystal Academy. This event is being supported by the Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW) and was founded by DTPW employee, Sarah Riggs.

The goals of this fashion show are to increase awareness of autism and related disabilities, raise funds for research, and provide support for families with autistic children in need of financial aid.

According to the Autism Speaks national organization and statistics from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, “around one in 68 American children [are] on the autism spectrum… An estimated one out of 42 boys and one in 189 girls are diagnosed with autism in the United States.”

The models participating in the fashion are all DTPW employees and styled by Ms. Riggs.
