Metrobus routes adjusted to improve service reliability
Beginning next week, the Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW) will adjust 28 bus routes to improve their service, and will open a new Park & Ride lot in west Kendall.
The Park & Ride lot, located at the corner of SW 127 Avenue and Kendall Drive, will connect riders from west Kendall to the Dadeland North Metrorail Station via bus routes 288 (Kendall Cruiser) and 288A.
The new facility has over 160 parking spaces, including designated parking for vehicles with baby stroller permits and six spaces for riders with disabilities. The opening of this facility goes along with other improvements made to the Kendall Cruiser service.
In addition, 27 other routes are being adjusted. Several of these routes are being altered to improve their service reliability. These include routes 6, 10, 12, 21, 27, 71, 73, and 277 (NW 7th Avenue MAX).
“These modifications will help us improve our reliability and the overall performance of our routes,” said DTPW Director Alice N. Bravo, P.E.
Bravo added that these adjustments are part of the service modifications that are made at least twice a year to improve bus service. Ridership data and customer feedback are among the tools used to determine the changes that can improve a route.
