Motor Vehicles & Sports Licenses

General Information

The Tax Collector's Office serves as an agent of the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV) and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC). Service provided include issuing motor vehicle, vessel, mobile home and trailer titles and registrations, disabled persons parking permits and hunting and fishing licenses and permits.

The disabled person parking permit must be hung on the rearview mirror of the vehicle used to transport the disabled person(s), when parked in a designated disabled person parking space. Disabled person parking permits can be purchased from any Tax Collector's Office or Private Branch Auto Tag Agency.

Titles

A certificate of title is the proof of ownership to a motor vehicle in the state of Florida. When you purchase a new motor vehicle, bring a motor vehicle into the state, or at any time the ownership of the motor vehicle changes, you must transfer ownership into your name. The application for title, along with all required documents and fees, can be processed at any Tax Collector's Office or Private Branch Auto Tag Agency.

Registrations

Motor vehicles, vessels, mobile homes and trailers are issued registrations to prove that license taxes and fees for the current registration period have been paid. Registrations may consist of a license plate, a decal, and a registration certificate and are to remain with the registered owner. If you are moving to Florida, you must register your vehicle in Florida within ten (10) days of establishing residency. Registrations can be purchased from any Tax Collector's Office or Private Branch Auto Tag Agency.

Disabled Person Parking Permits

Disabled person parking permits are issued to persons who have been medically certified to have long-term, permanent or temporary mobility impairment, or who are certified legally blind or temporarily sight-impaired. In addition, disabled person parking permits may be issued to organizations that provide transportation services to disabled persons.

Sports Licenses

The State of Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) sells a variety of recreational hunting and fishing licenses and permits as well as commercial fishing licenses. Applications and fees are available on the FWC website. Sports licenses can be purchased from any Tax Collector's Office or subagent, such as sporting goods stores or other retailers that sell hunting or fishing equipment as well as on the FWC website. Contact FWC for requirements and exemptions.
