    STS Facts

    Special Transportation Service (STS), is Miami-Dade Transit's (MDT) complimentary Paratransit service, based on the Metrobus, Metrorail and Metromover services. It was established in 1976 to meet the special transportation needs of disabled Miami-Dade County citizens.
     
    Special Transportation Service is available for anyone whom MDT certifies as eligible. Privately contracted sedans, vans, and vans equipped with lifts provide door-to-door service for eligible customers. Service is offered with no restrictions on trip purpose.

    Schedule:

    Seven days a week, 24 hours a day
     

    Reservations:

    Eligible riders must make trip reservations no later than 24 hours prior to traveling.
     

    STS Fares:

    $3 per one-way trip.
     

    Ridership:

    Total STS customer boarding's for FY 2009-2010:  1,553,539
    Average weekday boardings: 5,269

    Budget:

    Operating budget for FY 2011 is $ 37,805,100 
     

    Revenues: Total budgeted for FY 2011 is $ 3,942,225

    • If you are not satisfied with a resolution/response to your complaint regarding MDT’s STS services.
    • If you need to be provided with auxiliary aids and services for communications in alternate format (audiotape, Braille or computer disk), a sign-language interpreter or other accommodations. Requests for auxiliary aids and service have to be made five days in advance.
