Metrobus fareboxes also accept dollar bills, quarters, dimes, and nickels. Obtain and load an EASY Card or EASY Ticket at any Metrorail station, or at any of more than 75 sales outlets located throughout the County. EASY Cards can also be obtained and loaded or autoloaded online.

Note: Passengers paying cash must pay the full fare every time they board a bus. For customers using an EASY Card or EASY Ticket, bus-to-bus transfers are free while rail-to-bus and bus-to-rail transfers are 50 cents. (EASY Card/Ticket customers transferring from a regular bus to an express bus will be charged a 35-cent upgrade on their card or ticket.) Miami-Dade Transit strongly recommends using an EASY Card or EASY Ticket if your trip requires transfers.

To ride Metrorail, you will need an EASY Card or EASY Ticket as the new faregates do not accept cash. To obtain an EASY Card or EASY Ticket, walk over to one of the EASY Card vending machines located at the entrance of each rail station. Obtain an EASY Card or EASY Ticket using cash or a valid credit card. Then use the EASY Card or EASY Ticket to pay your fare at the faregate by tapping the EASY Card or EASY Ticket on the electronic Metrorail fare gates.

• You must also tap out whenever exiting a Metrorail station. Otherwise, your transfer will be invalid and you will be charged the full fare.

Metromover is free for all riders. Enter any station through the entrance gate.

Skip the long lines. Order online! Purchase and load an EASY Card. Or order it by calling 3-1-1 (persons who are deaf or with hearing impairments call 305-468-5402). EASY Cards (not EASY Tickets) can be purchased online or by telephone.

Please note that there is a limit of three transactions or $112 per credit card per day.

Inter County Connection Tickets

Miami-Dade Transit (MDT) passengers can request a free Inter County Connection Ticket only on bus routes where MDT and Broward County Transit (BCT) buses connect north of Miami Gardens Drive (NW 183 Street), including Golden Glades and Aventura Mall.  Inter County Tickets cannot be used to transfer in downtown Miami.

Passengers transferring from MDT to BCT will provide the BCT bus operator with the Inter County Ticket and pay $0.50.

Passengers transferring from BCT to MDT will provide the MDT bus operator with the BCT Transfer and pay $0.50 for a full-fare transfer, $0.25 for a discounted-fare transfer*, $0.85 for an express-bus transfer or $0.40 for an express-bus discounted fare transfer.

Please note that Inter County Tickets can only be used on cash only fares and passengers may be asked to provide verification of eligibility for reduced fare.

*Discounted-fare transfer is available for Medicare recipients, most people with disabilities, and local students in grades K-12 when using the EASY Card for discount-fare riders.
