Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure

The most convenient and economical way to get to the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in downtown Miami on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2015 is to take transit to the event.

Getting there

To get to Bayfront Park in downtown Miami, transit riders can take Metrorail to the Government Center Station, then transfer to Metromover’s Inner Loop, and exit at the Bayfront Park Metromover station.

Patrons also can transfer to Metromover from the Brickell Metrorail station. From the Brickell Metromover station, patrons can take a northbound Metromover train to the Bayfront Park Station.

Transit riders departing from the Adrienne Arsht Center Metromover station, adjacent to the Omni Metrobus terminal, can take a southbound Metromover train to the College North Station, and then transfer to an eastbound Inner Loop Metromover train to the Bayfront Park Station.

Metrorail and Metromover Schedule

Metrorail will provide regular weekend service on Saturday, Oct. 17, starting at 5 a.m.

Metrorail stations located between Dadeland South and Earlington Heights stations, which are served by both the Orange and Green lines, will have service every 15 minutes. Metrorail stations located north of Earlington Heights Station will have Metrorail service every 30 minutes.

Metromover will increase its service to weekday levels, starting at 5 a.m., on Saturday, Oct. 17.

Avoiding long lines

To avoid the crowds and long lines at ticket vending machines, event goers are encouraged to arrive extra early to Metrorail stations to pay for their fare and/or parking.

Race goers who did not pre-purchase a round trip on an EASY Ticket along with their race packet, or pre-paid for parking at a Metrorail station, will need to pay $2.25 per Metrorail trip ($4.50 for a round trip), and for parking at a rail station, which costs $4.50 per day.

Event goers who are not parking at a Metrorail station can pre-load an EASY Card or EASY Ticket with a round trip before the event on Saturday to avoid the long lines at EASY Card ticket vending machines.

EASY Cards and EASY Tickets can be loaded to pay for transit trips at the following locations:

  • Ticket vending machines, located at all Metrorail stations, the Golden Glades Park & Ride and the Omni Bus terminals
  • Easy Card Retail sales outlets
  • Transit Service Centers:
    • Government Center Metrorail Station - 111 NW First St. – Second Level Open weekdays from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
    • Overtown Transit Village - 701 NW First Court – Suite 121 Open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Route detours

Due to the race, several Metrobus routes will be detoured in and around downtown Miami, from approximately 6 a.m. until approximately 11 a.m.

The following routes will be detoured the morning of Oct. 17:
